Titi-the expressionist painter in Melaka, one of the Best in fact!

One of my dreadest subjects during my primary schooling was the drawing. Reason was simply due to my ungifted talent in this field. Yet, I love and admire great paintings like this one by Edvard Munch:

Edvard Munchs Scream

Edvard Munch's Scream

The Scream (created 1893-1910) is the title of expressionist paintings and prints in a series by Norwegian artist Edvard Munch, depicting an agonized figure against a blood red sky. The landscape in the background is Oslofjord, viewed from the hill of Ekeberg, in Oslo (then Kristiania), Norway.

The Scream has been the target of several high-profile art thefts. In 1994, the version in the National Gallery was stolen. It was recovered several months later. In 2004, The Scream and Madonna were stolen from the Munch Museum. Both paintings were recovered in 2006. They had sustained some damage and went back on display in May 2008, after undergoing restoration.

To prove that I am terrible in drawing, let alone painting,  here is the result when i try to sketch the Scream:

Since I can’t produce satisfactory art piece myself thus i am always on the lookout for great paintings. In Melaka, there are only a handful of respectable painters who are excel either in brush, watercolour,or abstract painting. One painter whom I’d like to introduce to you now is the low profile expressionist painter-Titi Kwok.

Titi is a self-taught artist and has indulged in serious painting since in his teen years. His mentor was none other than his own father,Kwok Se- a renowned and highly acclaimed artist based in Macau who specialized in Western and Chinese painting.

Titi specializes in both modern contemporary art and Chinese paintings and showcases his works at his art gallery. His distinctive and unique style are bolstered by the expansive usage of bright colours which randomly and wholesomely mirage and enhances the interplay of the subject matters.

Here are some of the latest art pieces showcased in his gallery which I just visited this week to check out his new creations:

The creative works feature the inner and profound strengths of his thoughts which are refreshingly rich and yet simple. He dabbles in both acrylic and mixed media.

Titi  till today is still reveling in exploiting his talents and continuing searching for new artistic modes to reach the pinnacle. His paintings has graced the walls of large corporations and private collectors both locally and world over, and Talkkok is proud to own 3 pieces from Titi. :-)
