Lunch @ WOK & PAN east meet west cuisine eatery!

My birthday was on this Wednesday, June 24th. The day was sunny with clear blue sky towering us. My lunch buddies wanted to treat me to a good and memorable lunch, for that moment, i felt lucky to have friends like them. They suggested to have Western food in a well-known restaurant in Melaka Raya. This is it:

To me, the shop doesn’t look like serving Western food but more to local cuisine. The look simply doesn’t impress me at all`.

The shop was empty when we arrived!

Yet, the owner was trying to create some nice ambiance by putting some nice drawing like this one

And another vintage phone, only to know later is a dummy set! #$%^&*()

18th century phone set (of course is a dummy)

The cutlery set used is of those low grade material, see photo:

the cutlery set served is also just like those cheapskate set used at my home

not like some prestigious steak houses which are using Arthur Price’s Jatori set:

And worst caseĀ  are the waitresses here are not as hot as this lady:

So during the ordering, the moments we had wasn’t an enjoyable one. This is because when facing with above cute waitress, the guests will ask her to recommend anything good but for our case, we ordered by ourselves as we browsed the menu.

I chose W4: Grilled Australia Sirloin Steak (RM29).

Surprisingly, the food were fantastic & delicious as 3 of us concurred. Never cross our mind that such a dull looking eatery can prepare such a exquisite Western food, at a reasonable price too. Though we ordered only the main course for our lunch, you can order some appetizer as well as house soup to complement the main course.

Just after 45 mins after our lunch, the shop was then full with other patrons, another testimony on the restaurant’s strong appeal to the public.

This shop has certainly attracted a huge followings even during lunch time

We also happened to see the chef over the tainted window, see photo (unfortunately just his back view):

Want to know where this chef was from?? On the left side of the dining hall, a framed picture of the city’s 5 star hotel-the Renaissance is proudly hung on the wall:

The farewell msg to the chef on his retirement from Renaissance Hotel

FYI, the chef was the ex-Executive Chef for Melaka Renaissance Hotel for many years before he retired couple of years ago.Not long after the retirement, he started this modest restaurant.

Now, you understand why we chose to go to this unimpressive & small western food outlet instead of going to one of the best and fine dining spot in Melaka- the Olio Italian cuisine:

So, is the restaurant’s ambiance important to you? or the food served? It’s your choice to decide.

Note: WOK & PAN cuisine restaurant is Open daily except on Monday.
