A friend of mine noticed that i like toasted bread very much thus recommended me to this real Old style kopitiam beside the vacant Federal Cinema.

"Lei Zhou" Coffee Shop
The name of the stall is called “Lei Zhou” Kopitiam which just like typical coffee shop, sells toasted bread using the soft Hainan bread, half boiled eggs, sweet potato with ginger and of course old style black coffee.

The just toasted bread-crispy outside but soft and moist inside!

Half boiled eggs; kopi & my favourite 3 layered tea

Not too hard, Not too raw- the real half boiled egg!
Something special about this shop is that the toasted bread is toasted with charcoal. This method is no longer practised by the modern coffee houses.Really old-fashioned! I found that bread toasted in this way is much crispier at the outside but soft and moist on the inside.
If you dont fancy harder bread like the toasted one, you may order for the steamed bread too:

The Steamed version -equally delicious
and for the fillings, you have the choice of either kaya-butter combination, kaya-kaya, peanut butter combination, this flexible offering is simply putting the more glamorous Old Town,Old Taste,Uncle John,Lim or Klang Station at shame which only dispense kaya-butter fillings even till today. Where is their sense of customer is KING?
Now, you have seen the products, let’s see the behind scene or the making process:

The freshly made kaya

You can buy the kaya too in cup @ Rm3.30 for one
See the experienced taukesoh slicing the Hainan bread.

The freshly toasted bread now ready for the fillings
While enjoying the nice breakfast, you’d have chance to indulge the panoramic view of the Melaka River, just beside the coffee shop:

Should you like to have nasi lemak too, go before 11am cause it is selling like hot cakes too, besides the toasted breads…..
