Jason Charles Bourne is the main character in the blockbuster movie- Bourne Trilogy. Along with the first feature film, The Bourne Identity (2002), Jason Bourne also appears in two sequel movies The Bourne Supremacy (2004) and The Bourne Ultimatum (2007). Actor Matt Damon has signed a contract to reprise his portrayal of Jason Bourne in a fourth sequel to be released in 2010 (working title Bourne 4).

1st movie: The Bourne Identity (2002)

In the opening scene, Jason was found floating in the Mediterranean sea, with two gunshot wounds in his back and a device with the number of a Swiss safe deposit box embedded in his hip. Suffering from amnesia, when the ship reaches shore, Jason decided to discover his true identity amidst a clandestine conspiracy within the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) to track him down and arrest or kill him. In this 1st installment, he befriended Marie who helped him along in searching for his true identity. I like the 1st scene where he swiftly took down the security guards in the American embassy in less than 5 secs,much faster than Jet Li or Jacky Chan. Then, also checked out how he gave Marie a bohemian styled haircut. Also, Clive Owen was also featured in this movie as one of the ruthless assassins, just like Jason. In the last scene, Jason used a dead body as a shield when jumping down from a 12th storey high apartment and in the free fall, he just killed the 3rd assassin with a gunshot in his temper. wooi….simply stylish and sharp! At the end, he managed to get back to Marie who started a bike rental business in the beautiful Mykonos islands in Greece and happily thereafter for the time being.

2nd installment: The Bourne Supremacy (2004)

2 years later, Bourne is framed for a crime with links to one of his past CIA missions. At that time, Jason and Marie were living peacefully in Goa, India. A subsequent assassination attempt on Bourne ends up killing Marie. See how the car veered off the bridge into a river and how desperate Jason was trying to give her mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. But the script wanted Marie dead and Jason began crying underwater. At that point, Bourne decides to take revenge by hunting down those responsible for her death and his forgotten past.

When Bourne arrives in Naples, Italy, he is detained by an Italian Carabinieri officer and a CIA interrogator, but Bourne incapacitates the two men and after copying the agent’s SIM card on his own cell phone, escapes. This allows Bourne to know Pamela Landy; this sequel special featured guest. he learns her name and phone number, and finds out that he is suspected in the recent killings in Berlin. He then went to Munich to look for the last Treadstone assassin. They have a struggle in which Bourne emerges victorious by strangling the assassin. This fight scene is really cleverly choreographed. They were fighting in Eskrima, the Philippines martial art using knife and sticks.

Bourne travels to Moscow, where he is shot and wounded by the assassin who killed Marie in the beginning. After an extended car chase, Bourne forces the assassin’s car to crash into a concrete divider in a tunnel. The assassin is shown to be extensively injured and incapacitated. In this deliberate car chase, Jason was driving a badly damaged taxis and wounded while the assassin was using a BMW 7 series.

The final scene was in New York City, where Bourne contacts Landy to ask why the CIA is still looking for him. she tells Bourne his real name (David Webb), birth date (April 15, 1971) (no wonder he looked older than me!!) and place of birth (Nixa, MO). Bourne declines Landy’s offer to come back to the CIA offices in person, and he fades into a crowded street scene. That’s when the movie’s theme song began, from Moby’s Extreme Way. check out the last video below for the song.

3rd installment: The Bourne Ultimatum (2007)

The movie begins before the end of the events in The Bourne Supremacy, as Bourne, wounded by a gunshot from the Russian assassin, is still evading the Moscow police. He escapes.

This installment started with a security correspondent for The Guardian came to know about the secretive Treadstone assassin training project. And the bad guy in this movie is another CIA Deputy Director Noah Vosen who ordered the assassins in this movie. Of course the correspondent was killed in the London Waterloo Station. And next is the Madrid CIA chief who leaked the project details to the correspondent.The 2nd Moroccan assassin successfully detonated a bomb that kills the Madrid CIA chief. Then Bourne attacks and strangles the assassin after a long and brutal fight using shave knife. Just like in the first movie, Bourne has Parsons dye and cut her hair. I wondered why this movie liked to have the girls hair dyed?? but i liked this hair dying parts!

Bourne takes a flight to New York City and calls Deputy Director Pamela Landy from a building across the street (recreating the final scene from the Bourne Supremacy). As the teams and Vosen converge on Landy’s position, Bourne breaks into Vosen’s office and steals classified Blackbriar documents. Landy led Bourne to the Treadstone R&D facility which finally allowing him to discover his full past history. He meets Dr. Albert Hirsch, who helped Bourne remembers that he volunteered for the program. CIA agents then break in and start shooting. Bourne escapes and jumps into the East River as Vosen tries to shoot him.

The final news item reports that David Webb, alias Jason Bourne, was shot and fell in the East River but his body has not been found. At this point, Bourne’s body springs to life and starts swimming away. Same song from Moby started to play again in the end… Cool…..!

The 4th installment:Bourne 4 (coming in 2011)

George Nolfi, who co-wrote The Bourne Ultimatum, will be writing the script of a fourth film, which will not be based on any of the novels by Robert Ludlum. Matt Damon and Paul Greengrass have been attached to the project from the start, as well as Julia Stiles and Joan Allen now being asked. The release date has been announced to be in July 2011.

So, after reading this blog post dedicated to this movie, I hope you’d love the character Jason Bourne in this highly anticipated action packed blockbuster.
