Bukit Serindit City Garden

Melaka is blessed with many city gardens built up by the city council MBMB. One of them is the famous Bukit Serindit City Garden. This open garden is huge and beautifully landscaped. I must compliment MBMB for giving the city dwellers one nice place to unwind and exercise!

I see many people, young and old jog around in this garden, some even fish by the lake. There is also a big children playground at one designated area.

Around this garden, the city council also built up one national style stadium and 2 hockey fields, in fact, these facilities are quite impressive.

And the main stadium Tun Fatimah is situated on the other side of the garden:

Tun Fatimah Stadium-it was closed on the day

Tun Fatimah Stadium-it is closed on Sunday!

The stadium is not open for free admission, in fact all these stadiums charge certain amount of rental per hour or session, see the rate table:

The Stadium is only open for business from Mon-Sat,closed on Sunday!

I notice from the table above that Tun Fatimah stadium is not utilised on Sunday, except from Monday to Saturday, somemore at a charge! As the taxpayers & Malaysians, we still need to pay for the use of these facilities? Even they have valid reasons to charge for rental from Mon to Sat, why can’t the state government open to public on Sunday, at least just for a day.

Simply because the running tracks is more convenient for the joggers as the pathway in the city garden is not designed for jogging. You will see many jog along the perimeter of the garden while cars are cruising freely in the same line.

Worse still, Tun Fatimah was just open to public few years back but the condition starts to deteriorate:

While another good reason to open the stadium to public on Sunday is because of the many people practising aerobic outside the stadium every weekend:

Easily there were >200 people exercising aerobic every weekend

If MBMB is really interested in making money for these stadiums, they should maintain it properly and draw more activities to these stadiums, things like tournaments, kenturi, carnivals or even concerts are welcomed too. But are they ready for this?

If they are doing this for the Malaccans, they should consider open up the stadium to the joggers, aerobics exercise and others. A day in a week is already pleasing to the city dwellers who today hardly can find such a nice place to unwind and exercise.

If like this also don’t know, they might as well resign consult talkkok how to run public facilities.

and one more thing which is more disturbing is how extravagant and rich the MBMB is today, just look at their building:

Even my multi-million dollar worth company is not lit up in this manner. Wouldn’t you call this power & public funds wastage and misuse. Has MBMB really improved the followings in Melaka:

- miserable roads condition

- parkings inadequacy in some prime areas

- traffic jam in Melaka Raya

- dirty public transportation & toilets

- rubbishes on the roads…..

So, don’t forget to take a picture of this building and its front spacious compound as it is doing its best as a tourist spot!!
