Lunch is no longer boring!

Few years back, I used to go home very often for my lunch due to the close distance between my house to the company. Then, some times ago, I started to join RG & QCH for lunch with the common reason behind, they love food as much as I do.

Hence, our working lunches is never boring anymore but gastronomic! We never go for the same food in the same week. We also try our best to visit different culinary food each day.

Let’s see what we had yesterday:

Venue: Boon Leong Foodcourt @ Bunga Raya,Melaka.

Main course: “Char Siu fan” – aka barbecued pork rice

This shao la stall has been in business since 20 years ago and the followings is never dwindling. Located at the narrow alley sandwiched between the century old shop houses, it does not require much introduction especially to the locals. The stall is manned by 5-7 people (most of them are family members),in fact 3 generations are working together today. See what they offer:

The meat, typically a shoulder cut, is seasoned with a mixture of honey, five-spice powder, fermented tofu, dark soy sauce, hoisin sauce, red food colouring (optional) and sherry or rice wine (optional). These seasonings turn the exterior layer of meat dark red, similar to the “smoke ring” of American barbecues. Maltose may be used to give char siu its characteristic shiny glaze.

This mini stall is run by a lovely couple who are already in their old age yet still look as fresh as the fruits they are selling. According to the uncle, he inherited his juices’ recipe from his great grandfather and boasts that each concoction is meant to bring goodness to our health. See the menu offered:

The each menu is named alphabetical order.

The drink is named according to the 1st character of the fruit name.

Tomatoes, carrots and starfruits are among the fruits offered

After “consulting” the uncle, we had the following for 3 of us:

RG: Potato + Apple- for constipation relief

QCH: Star fruit + Apple- for body cooling effect

& for myself: Guarva, Orange and Apple- for complexion & kidney

above combination is good for our general well being. And we really liked it, not too sweet and not diluted with water, unlike the usual ones that we are getting from restaurants or hotels.

101% pure extraction from the fruits. No addictive, sugar or water
