Tau sa piah is the hokkien name for a pastry, tau sa means bean paste and piah means pastry or cookies. It is one of the few traditional Chinese pastries that is still famous in both Malaysia and Singapore. In the old days, this pastry is distributed together with some other pastries, to bride’s relatives on the engagement day to spread the good news. Today, it has fast become a common pastry for tea time or light refreshment!
All the while, Penang is famous for its Tau Sa Piah but few know that Melaka is also blessed with some good tau sa piah bakery houses. I’d introduce 2 to you today:

The Tau Sa Piah- size "L"
The pastry is sold in 2 sizes, one in a miniature size (the smaller one) & the other is the bigger size as shown in above photo.The bigger size is sold at RM8/box (10 pcs) while the smaller one is priced at RM11 (~24 pcs). Daily volume is exceeding 100 boxes easily.

Aside from this tau sa piah, the other 2 famous pastries are theĀ “sweet fragrant biscuit” & the chicken floss mixed with tau sa paste filled triangle pastry.

Besides tau sa piah, the pineapple tart is the main delicacy which is absolutely delicious as the fillings (pineapple) is sweet and moist while the pastry is soft and melt easily in mouth.
