Last Sunday was the last day of this Chinese New Year. Every year, there bound to have some big celebrations on this day, same for this year.
In Malacca, more than 5,000 revellers gathered along Jalan Kubu next to the famed Jonker Walk to witness the closing of the Chinese New Year’s festivities, which was jointly organised by the state Chinese New Year Carnival Committee and its wushu and lion dance associations.
They joined some 2,000 lion and dragon dance troupes, and children donning masks for the event, which had become a popular tourist attraction.
Since Ethan loves Lion dances, I brought him there to witness the mega Lion dances.
Lotsa people watching the 2000 lions dancing
See!, hell lotsa people on that day! Worse still, the weather was hot and stuffy. If there were 2000 lions there, i guessed there were easily 10000 plus humans there too!!!
Anyway, this did not deter us from going nearer to the stage.
Beautiful lions
And different races also join in the event, truly uplifting the 1Malaysian spirit
Lions also need some rests, fully understood...
Lions have their fur dyed with multi colours
Young children also joined in the fray
And tiny cubs also there to support their big brothers or parents
And people are climbing up to this Mr Universe's statue to get a better view of the lions
See the Giant Lion!!!
Wushu performance was also part of the agenda that day
Though the event was interesting but still there is some don't get to appreciate it!!!
Finally, a white bengal Tiger was dancing and jumping on the rods
The highlight of the day-dragon troupe
Well, this was the 2000 lions dance troupes, very entertaining and lively. The event ended with ~ 6-7 mins of fireworks.
After this, the lions also went for dinner:
the lions were resting while the dancers were having dinner
